With Energy Auditing and Green Construction becoming more and more common, there is a growing need for people who know how to carry out Green retrofitting techniques. These techniques are hard to learn on your own, but fairly simple with an experienced instructor.
The course begins with the fundamentals of building science, safety procedures, weatherization techniques, and BPI and Weatherization Assistance Program standards. The goal is to help you understand what is necessary and how to do it. The class will prepare you to turn energy auditor’s recommendations into reality.
Hands-on application of weatherization techniques is then taught in a local home or lab. Specific activities will be determined by situations found on site, and will include a focus on resolving combustion safety problems, air infiltration, and moisture control.
